We’ve been delighting clients for 15 years. We’d love to meet you and your pets and have you hire us, too!  Our experienced, bonded, and insured professionals care for your pets in your home following your instructions.  In return, you enable us to earn a living doing work we LOVE.

If your pets are gregarious and healthy, or shy and introverted, or need special or customized care – whether elderly, ill, or very young – we can help!  We’re ready for happy playtime as well as unusual, unexpected or emergency situations.

Alex joined us in 2017 as Alexandria Pet Care’s dog trainer and behaviorist, focused on helping individual dog owners achieve their goals for a long happy life with their dogs. Training is personalized and customized to suit the owner’s and dog’s needs, focusing on their strengths and training preferences. Alex draws from a variety of positive and humane training techniques including the Humane Hierarchy model pioneered by Dr Susan Friedman, the Premack Principle, and Sirius Dog Training created by Dr Ian Dunbar. He’s CPDT-KA certified and is an AKC trainer/evaulator.

Our Client Services Manager since 2009, Allison has a unique combination of skills in animal care, business operations and customer service. While she handles our daily operations and scheduling, she serves many clients as their backup dog walker during employees’ time off. Previously she worked as Assistant General Manager at Meadowbrook Stables in Maryland, and worked at small animal clinics City Paws in D.C. and Caring Hands in Virginia. She has her bachelor’s degree in Equine Studies from Virginia Intermont College. Allison and her family live with their dog, Nikki, and cat, Cleo.

Alison jumped aboard in 2018 as our Client Services Coordinator in our office. She’s a long-time volunteer with Rural Dog rescue, most recently managing their volunteer population, training volunteers, scheduling and doing home adoption visits, scheduling volunteer rotations, going to adoption events, and has been a foster dog mom along the way. She has one dog of her own, a three-year-old terrier mix named Bailey. In her previous experience, Alison worked in sales and customer service, in virtual teams with field employees, office management and data analysis positions.

Andy joined the team in 2018 with over 8 years’ experience working professionally with pets. Most recently, he became a certified dog trainer and has also gained terrific experience in working with animals both as a Veterinary Assistant learning the medical side of administering care and prescriptions, and as a caregiver, team lead, and manager at a full-service pet sitting company with an attached doggie day care facility up in New York. Andy lives in West End Alexandria now, has a dog and cat at home, and he’s quick to tell you stories of his past pet antics!

Since 2008, Christine has served many of our Fairfax County clients outside the beltway. She brings years of experience working as an animal care officer in New York City – handling wildlife, pet adoption and fostering programs, and general customer service. She’s seen it all, both good and bad, and now loves working with family pets on the “other side” of the pet experience, in happy homes with caring owners. Christine has her bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from Hunter College, and she enjoys her cat and two dogs who keep her busy traveling to compete for AKC agility titles.

Since 2012, Cindy has worked with clients in central and west end Alexandria. In prior years, Cindy worked at our local shelter, Alexandria’s Vola Lawson Animal Welfare League, walking dogs, watching incoming pets’ assessments, and volunteering with fundraising and front office work. She completed Fairfax County’s veterinary assistant program in 2007, and is enrolled in Penn Foster’s veterinary technician training. She also provided personal pet sitting for friends and neighbors for years, Cindy has her degree from the Moser School of Business (Robert Morris University) in Chicago.

Cole joined us in 2018 to serve all our west end and central Alexandria clients. (Well, Nicole, but she prefers her nickname Cole.) She moved to Alexandria recently from Florida, where she worked for 2 years as a pet care professional with a company like ours, and has a story to tell about any kind of cat, bird, or dog that she cared for during those years. She’s excited to be back serving pet owners again. Cole is an ongoing foster parent to rescued animals, loves time outdoors in nature, has another passion for Reiki, and is planning to go back to school in the future for a masters degree in art therapy.

Elizabeth Legere founded Alexandria Pet Care in 2004, and serves as General Manager. She currently owns Mocha, a frisky Lagotto Romagnolo. Past pets include Portuguese Water Dogs, an Affenpinscher, a Bouvier des Flandres, a Lilac-point Siamese, a rescue tabby, a gray pony, Swimmy and Sparkle the water frogs, and numerous hamsters, and box turtles. Elizabeth has a bachelor’s degree from Smith College, and previously worked in corporate marketing, SaaS technology development and communications consulting to global corporations, before finding her true passion working with pets.

Elle joined our team in 2012, after years as a veterinary assistant. Previously, she worked several years at VCA Alexandria Animal Hospital, before which she worked at the SPCA of Anne Arundel County, MD, socializing all the animals in the shelter. Now, she shares her home with 15-year old “Mr. Kitty” and a Shih-Tzu, rescued as an abuse rehabilitation case from the animal hospital. Elle studied Fine Arts at Virginia Commonwealth University, specializing in textile arts and ceramics. She spends her free time creating pottery and volunteering as a teacher’s assistant at The Art League.

Gina joined us in 2018 as Finance Coordinator and Bookkeeper.
She brings us a wealth of knowledge and financial discipline gained during 25 years as a CPA working in corporate accounting and finance management for global companies Payless, Maersk, and Ernst & Young. Gina holds an MBA from University of Santa Maria La Antigua, and received her CPA license in Panama. Gina has also been marketing with us at our public company events around town, and loves meeting pet owners. She and her family have two pets, a Yorkie named Teddy and a cat named Goliath.

Holly joined the team in 2018 working full-time, and will be moving outside the beltway soon to concentrate on serving our clients from Huntington down to Mount Vernon. Holly has a decade of experience working with animals both as a veterinary assistant and long time solo pet sitter. She also worked in organic grocery management, and brings a great service mentality and work ethic. She has her bachelor’s in Mammalian Biology and Wetland Ecology and master’s in Biogeochemical Cycling and Ecotoxicology. She’s a huge fan of reptiles and amphibians in addition to being a cat lover and dog owner.

Jody joined Alexandria Pet Care in 2018 with 15+ years’ pet sitting experience behind her. She previously cared for pets for family, friends, and colleagues, during her career years working in DC at the House of Representatives and later as a court reporter in Florida. She moved back to her hometown Alexandria several months ago to be closer to family, and now is eager to be caregiving for family pets in their homes. Jody has her bachelors from the University of California, Santa Barbara, currently owns two Siamese and is a past dog owner of Pitties, German Shepherds and a Great Dane.

Laura L joined Alexandria Pet Care in 2010 with 10+ years’ technical experience with animals, most recently clinical and large animal field work. She previously worked in both rescue and animal hospitals in Arlington, McLean, and Alexandria. Laura has experience caring for cats and dogs, livestock, horses, snakes, fish, parrots, birds, fish, rabbits, and rodents. Laura worked on a farm during lambing season, bred show-quality betta fish, and led guided public tours on horseback. She has her bachelor’s degree and has lived and traveled extensively overseas.

Laura B joined Alexandria Pet Care in 2017 with over 15 years’ pet sitting experience with animals of all sorts and most medical conditions. Her most recent work with our clients in neighborhoods from Belle Haven to Mount Vernon include healthy adult dogs and cats, along with geriatric and insulin-dependent animals. She also works part time a few days a week in human resources at a government agency. Laura has a bachelor’s from San Diego State University. She moved to Northern Virginia from San Diego and has settled right in sharing her passion of all sorts of trivia.

Maddie joined the team in 2017 after several years working as foster care coordinator at the largest rescue organization in D.C., and provides temp fostering in her home for young and high-risk rescues. She has 11 years’ experience with small animals, livestock, and volunteer therapy work with horses. She spent a year serving our clients, but when she landed a full-time internship, she took on company marketing for us and is not doing pet care for now. Maddie has her bachelors in Psychology, her masters in Forensic Psychology, and has one dog, Ubi, who keeps her laughing.

Natalia joined the team in 2018 working part-time with our inside-the-beltway clients. She works weeknights and weekends with our neighborhood teams from Old Town to Van Dorn. Natalia’s whole career has been with animals, as she spent 10 years as a veterinary assistant while building a career in animal research, working with private industry, USDA, and with comparative medicine animal research at University of Baltimore. She has her bachelor’s in Animal Science and master’s degree in Animal Pathology from the University of Puerto Rico Mayaguez.

Once you’re a client, we’re available to your pets all year long for dog walking and pet sitting.

7 am to 10 pm, 365.

We guarantee our availability, when you book appointments with three or more days’ notice, except in November and December.  (Holiday period visits Nov 15-30 and Dec 15-31) should be booked 30 days in advance.  All clients meet your neighborhood team of pet professionals, so you can schedule pet visits and know that even if one employee’s schedule is full, you’ll already know personally who else from your team will come to your home.
